TORZHOK (6,000 rubles)
a 1,000-year-old town, 60 km from Tver, with well-preserved provincial architecture, noble manor houses, and places of cultural, historical, and religious interest, including the Museum of Russian Wooden Architecture, Golden Embroidery School and Museum, and Pushkin Museum.
STARITSA (6,000 rubles)
an ancient town, 60 km from Tver, located on a steep bank of the Volga with a picturesque scenery and medieval church architecture. Visits to an Ethnography Museum and Staritsa history and way of life museum.
BERNOVO (6,000 rubles)
a village on the Pushkin's Ring, A.S. Pushkin’s literature museum located in the country estate of a famous 19th c. aristocratic family.
KLIN (6,000 rubles)
a small town in the Moscow region (one hour from Tver), which was home to Tchaikovsky and features a museum dedicated to his life and work.
GORODNYA (3,000 rubles)
a village, 20 km from Tver on the way to Moscow, with a 14-th century church, which is still full of life.
VISHNY VOLOCHEK (10,000 rubles)
an ancient town on the watershed of the Msta and Tvertsa rivers, famous for its canal system, which connected the Volga basin with St. Petersburg. Visits to the Appearance of God nunnery, Glass factory museum, Artists' Dacha.
KIMRY (9,000 rubles)
the former center for shoe ware industry, which now has a museum of its history. The town is unique for the 20th century Russian modern style in architecture.
SERGiYEV POSAD (ZAGORSK) (10,000 rubles)
the center of the Russian Orthodox Church and site of the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra. Also famous for its Russian toys museum.
OSTASHKOV (10,000 rubles)
a former fishing village, 150 km from Tver, located on LakeSeliger, one of the largest and most beautiful chains of lakes in Europe, featuring unique architecture and the Nilova Poustyn' religious sanctuary
MOSCOW (one day tour - 8,000 rubles; three day tour - 18,000 rubles)
visits to the most famous sites, including the Red Square and the Kremlin, the Arbat, and the Tretyakov Gallery. Other choices: Novodevichy monastery, Pushkin museum of fine arts.
ST. PETERSBURG (18,000 rubles for a three day tour)
tour of the city, visits to Hermitage, Russian museum, possibly to the suburbs of St. Petersburg.
